Star Easel Card - Cherish The Memory Guest DT

Hello, I was recently invited to be a Guest on the DT over at Cherish The Memory to work with the Sweet Winter Season collection from Studio Light. (All product links and Youtube Video at end of post)

For my 2nd project I took inspiration from the star shaped sheep image, which is a sweet 3D layered decoupage, and created a star shaped easel card using star dies that echoed the shape.  A little piece of clear Acetate invisibly provides a base for the easel to rest on the stopper

I covered the easel card with blue paper from the 12x12 pack, inking the edges with a blue distress ink. This collection also includes a really nice clear stamp set.  I used the snowflakes and music stamps, along with one of the sentiments, stamping in Versamark ink and heat embossing in Gold.

To finish, the card was embellished with adhesive pearls and ribbon trim. This star shaped easel folds down to fit into an envelope all ready for posting out.

The 3D decoupage elements are die cut and easy to press out, layer up with 3D foam pads and add to your makes, there is a great selection of images on the sheets, perfect for your winter themed makes. I do hope you like todays project and please do pop back for more makes with this collection.

A New Home Card with Forest Friends

I do love the cute Forest Friends collection from Grace Taylor and thought it would be fun to create a Mushroom or toadstool shaped New Home Card.  

I finally got around to using the cute Raccoon character from the embellishment sticker pack, but he's such a sweetie I may need to add more to my stash. :D  I have included my Cricut Design Space link below if you wish to cut exactly as I have or you could draw a template and cut by hand as it's a simple shape :)

Step By Step:

1. I cut this design on my Cricut Explore and can share my Design Space Project link here: https://uk.cricut.com/design/#/canvas/36100306
   if you would like to make one the same, it is already sized for you. (You could also cut a simple toadstool / mushroom shape by drawing in pencil onto a kraft card blank and cutting paper pieces for the spots)
2. I cut the largest shape, the card base from Dovecraft A4 Kraft card and cut it twice to create a front and back for my card.  (The back panel can be added later by simply scoring across it about 2” down and adding tape above this section before attached to card front)
3. Using the pink card from the Dovecraft coloured A4 card pack, I cut the large base panel.  I added faux stitching all around using a white pen.  Edges were inked with a red ink and then Dovecraft glitter glue in ‘crystal’ was applied to add some sparkle.
4. I used various pattern papers from the Forest Friends 12x12 pad to cut the layered parts.  Yellow for the under cap and the blue for the stalk.  Faux stitching with a white pen was added to each paper piece and all cut edges inked with red ink
5. The spots were cut from white card and then embossed using the Santoro Willow embossing folder as the pattern reflects the shape on one of the papers I’ve used.  I then ink around with red ink allowing extra ink to come over onto the edges of the embossing to highlight it.
6. All the pattern pieces were then glued in place upon the pink card shape, it has some lines to help you line it up.
7. I chose letters from the Grace Taylor Forest Friends sticker book to spell out ‘A New HOME’ and added them to the card front.  A couple of the arrows were also added to point to the word HOME, and a little hedgehog sticker was applied to the bottom of the smaller toadstool mushroom shape.
8. To finish a cute Raccoon from the Embellishment Stickers (Forest Friends) was added to the bottom of the card at RH side, positioned to be standing in front of the mushroom / Toadstool.

Wicked Wishes...with Papermilldirect

Hello, this week the +papermilldirect DT have been working on Halloween makes and I have this card to share with you.  There are some fabulous shades of cardstock in the Papermilldirect colours range just perfect for Halloween makes like my favourite Purple Grape along with Bright Orange, Apple Green and of course Black.  I created this little shaped card by using one of the Halloween images in Cricut Design Space, I duplicated the base layer and flipped it, moving it up against its mirror image and overlapping it before aligning both shapes along the bottom and then selecting ‘weld’ to form the base of a shaped card that can be folded in half. 

If you’d like to make this card this is my Design Space link which means that you don’t need to do the mirroring and welding steps at all, it is already done for you and all the pieces are sized, colour coordinated and ready to just press ‘go’.  When you have the pieces cut out, just score and fold the purple base card in half to form the card base, layer up the other shapes and glue together using a clear drying glue and decorate as desired.

 

When using my Cricut to cut images I often like to add some detail to what would otherwise be ‘flat’ shapes.  For this design I chose to use some embossing folders through my manual die cutter machine.  You can see the embossed detail adds more interest and makes for a more tactile card.  For the Sentiment of ‘Wicked Wishes’ I used a collage embossing folder.  I also used some Stickles glitter glue in ‘Mercury Glass’ to edge around the words and added some dots of Liquid Pearls in a black colour.

To decorate the hat part of the card I added different sized gold and silver sequins, filled the star cut-outs with the Stickles glitter glue and used it to outline the green star too.  Little dots of black Liquid Pearls were added to the centres of the sequins, star and also on the green hatband, along with dots of Stickles glitter glue.  It's fun to experiment with embossing folders and I like to mix and match electronic cutting with other techniques. Easter Card Makes with Papermilldirect

Waving hello and welcome to another Monday, it's Officially Spring, Yay!!  and the +papermilldirect Team are still working hard on Easter Projects.

I have a Tutorial for a Shaker Card over on the Papermill Inspire Blog today (Link Here), but first I would like to share this Easter Bunny card.  I had originally planned to cut the Bunny using my Cricut Explore but had a few issues with technology & internet and had to resort to Plan B, which involved using templates and cutting it by hand.  It took a little longer but was quite relaxing and fun to do.  

The Bunny Head is a PDF pattern from 'My Scrap Chick' it was printed off , cut out and used to create the templates for the Bunny Head. I layered and assembled using 3D foam pads to give height and definition.

I cut the grass randomly with scissors and attached across the front of the card, only sticking along the bottom edge so I could slip the Easter Eggs behind it and adjust positioning.  The eggs have been die cut using nesting easter egg shaped dies and then embossed with 3 different embossing folders. 

Distress inks were used in colours to match the Papermilldirect cards to ink around the cut edges and also across the raised embossing to bring out the designs, a subtle way to enhance embossing. 


A greeting of 'Happy Easter' has been stamped in black archival ink using a 'Clearly Besotted' Stamp set. Ric-Rac and die cut border trims have been used to decorate the eggs, you could go wild here but I kept it restrained :D 

Extra details have been added to the bunny head with a black fine liner pen and a white Pergamano pen, I think these really help bring the character to life.
