A Papercut Style Heart Wedding Card - Papermilldirect DT

Hello, today I'm going to share a recent Wedding card design idea with you.  I love to use Papermilldirect White Linen card not only for it’s lovely texture and the luxury look it gives, but also because it cuts beautifully on my Cricut Explore.  I needed to make a Wedding card with a lemon and white combo so I choose the PMD Pastel Canary card to partner the linen card centrepiece.

Step By Step.  

The design of the card is based around a papercut style heart, I used a heart shape from Design Space and adapted it by welding in some shapes to close some of the open spaces and make it easier to mount onto it’s backing. (The Design Space images I've used are shown at the end of this post)

Mount the White Linen papercut heart onto it’s Pastel Canary backing shape using 3D foam pads and decorate with adhesive pearls and clear gems.  Prepare an 8x8 white card base by adding a mat and layer of embossed white card onto Pastel Canary using d/s tape.  Affix decorative heart to card front using d/s tape and clear drying glue.

Attach a panel of Pastel Canary card inside the card and add a panel for the greeting.  I have cut another heart from smooth white card and used my Cricut to write ‘On Your Wedding Day’ upon it.  I have also added a die cut Wedding Cake and 2 Champagne Flutes using die sets.

Cut the centrepiece heart panel from White Linen card and add to it’s Pastel Canary backing shape using 3D foam pads.  (I have personalised the centre heart by slicing the words into the shape using a Cricut Font, you could use the write function if you prefer?) Decorate heart with small adhesive gems and then add to card front.

Add other decoration to card front if desired, I have added a bride and groom die cut from White Linen card using a FE Wedding Die set and mounted using 3D foam pads.

Add personalised layered hearts to bottom left and bottom right. I have used my Cricut to write ‘Mr&Mrs’ on one and the Wedding date on the other. To finish, add a trio of paper flowers using sticky dots, twirl the wire stems if they have and arrange as desired.  I used a ready-made white box to hold the card and decorated it with a personalised layered heart and a paper flower to match,

'Explore'ing a Wedding Card ...with Papermill Direct

Hello and welcome to this week's blog post, the theme for the +papermilldirect DT this week is 'Weddings' and I have a wedding card to share with you today. (as always links are at the bottom of the post)

I know the Linen cardstock is very very popular and this week the special offer is a lovely 300gsm Grey Linen available in a small box for just £4-40, (link Here) it's a beautiful soft shade of grey and I couldn't wait to have a play with it.

I created this Mr & Mrs Wedding Card using the Cricut Explore and Design Space software. I used this project to learn how to create my own sliced and welded overlay panel for a card but also it could be framed to create a picture gift. 

I started by selecting a square shape and resizing to approx. 6” square. I then selected a heart shape and resized to fit inside the square by positioning it on top of the square and aligning it both horizontally and vertically before ‘slicing’ the heart from the square. Remove the inner heart shape and discard. I used the Mr & Mrs sentiment from within the subscription images and discarded all the layers except for one, clicked off the ‘padlock’ icon so that I could stretch the sentiment both vertically and horizontally, aiming for the bottom of the M of ‘Mr’, and the outer edge of the S of ‘’Mrs’ to overlap the heart shape that had been cut away. When happy with position I selected ‘weld’ to attach the pieces into one. 

 For the scroll flourishes, I searched for ‘swirl’ within the subscription images and selected one to use, which I copied to create 3 no.. I then again unlocked the ‘padlock’ icon to allow each swirl to be manipulated into the desired size and shape to fit into the heart aperture. I used one at the bottom and one at the top left and top right of the sentiment. Again the swirls were positioned and orientations altered so that they overlapped slightly the heart area before selecting ‘weld’ to permanently attach them. I worked with each swirl separately. When finished the entire panel is in one piece and creates the overlay for this card design. I added a little line detailing around the edges to frame the heart using a scoring tool and scoreboard, The front overlay was then mounted onto a square of ‘Grey Linen’ card using 3D foam and I created a back panel also from the ‘Grey Linen’ card. To finish I cut 2 small hearts from ‘grey linen’ using a much smaller version of the same heart shape as before . 3 small clear adhesive gems decorate one heart and larger clear gems were added to each corner of the panel.

Save The Date - with Papermilldirect

Hello and welcome to this week's Blog Post, and I have news of another +papermilldirect Special Offer for you:

The Design Team have been looking ahead to the Wedding season for our makes this week, and I have a 'Save The Date' card to share with you.

The base card has been created by scoring and folding Papermilldirect ‘Ultra White Pearlised’ card and has then been trimmed down to 5” x 7” standard card size.

I used SVG cutting files from Birds Cards (as always links at bottom of post) to create the layered ‘Retro Rose Panel’ front,  importing into Cricut Design Space along with the ‘save the date circle’ SVG file. Within Design Space it was easy to resize and also ‘weld’ the 2 images together to create a single cut panel piece. The Ultra White Pearlised card cut very cleanly in my Explore and the delicate sparkle adds a touch of luxury. The decorative panel was backed with the second layer of the Retro Rose cut file cut in PMD ‘New Lilac’ cardstock.

The sentiment aperture is backed with a square of white vellum, then a co-ordinating panel of patterned paper (looks a little like confetti) has been attached behind it secured to the rear of the outer frame of the sentiment, this ensures no glue is visible through the delicate vellum part. The assembled panel has been attached to the whole of the card front using strong double sided tape.

To finish Adhesive pearls in 2 sizes have been added around the sentiment panel.

Wedding ideas with papermill card

Hello, and welcome to my weekly papermill DT post.  This week our theme is Wedding Stationery and to go with that papermill have a special offer on their lovely Ivory Felt card across small, midi & mega box sizes, starting at just £6-50 per box.  The Ivory Felt card is a sumptuous 300gsm and perfect for lots of designs. 

Now I must confess that Wedding Stationery is not something I have much experience of, but I thought it would be fun to make some 'Save The Date' cards and 'RSVP's using some of the other fabulous card stocks from  +papermilldirect.  I will first apologise for the photos, the weather was horrible this week and the light not good, so the pics do not do the cards or the beautiful card stock used justice.

First up is a Bird themed RSVP card that would be great to use as an invite.  I have created the card base from papermill's Sky Blue card and have embossed the front flap only through my Big Shot using a swirls design embossing folder.  The layered Bird has been cut from Papermill White Linen card, which I also used to die cut the letters for 'RSVP'.  A little faux pearl for the eye to complete it.  These little cards don't use much card or expensive materials and so would be perfect for those on a budget.  Just add your computer printed details inside.  Cut using a cricut mini they could be made in batches and the embossing could be left off for quicker makes.  

My second design is a 'Save The Date' card with a heart theme in my favourite colour of course. I have also cut this with a cricut mini using papermill's White Hammered card to form the card base. 

The heart motif is cut from my favourite papermill Purple Grape card. The 'Save the Date' phrase has been cut from white hammered card and lightly coloured with pan pastels, attached to a shadow base of papermill grey card. A purple ribbon and faux pearls to finish.  

Just add an insert with your details inside to complete. I printed these off on my computer and then die-cut with a scalloped square die. Again if making in large quantities, you could always omit the pan pastel colouring and perhaps the grey card shadow layer to the sentiment.

2 Wedding Cards and a papermill Offer...

Hello, this week we are thinking about Weddings, and at papermill there are lots of different types of card suitable for Wedding Cards and Stationery.  White Linen is of course very popular and this week is on Special Offer at just £7-50 for a small box in A5 size.  Whilst you are checking out the White Linen, you may wish to have a browse through some of the other card textures and finishes like the pearlised?  I have chosen to work with the pearlised card this week in both a natural white colour and the ivory colour. 

First up is a new version of a style of card I have made before and you may recognise the shape.  This time though I have embossed the bodice of the dress with a swirls embossing folder and used the de-bossed side to cut 2 sides of skirt panel.  I love how you can achieve a subtle change of pattern just by mixing up the embossed and de-bossed designs. 

 I think this card would make a great 'Thank You Bridesmaid' card or even a card you could send to the 'Bride to Be'?  I have used mini faux pearls to scatter over the skirt part of the dress, to hopefully help keep the design delicate looking.  I also chose to use a contrast card in a burgundy colour called 'maroon' as I think this would be perfect for Autumn & Winter Wedding themes and have embossed this with tiny dots. Lace rose ribbon trim in Ivory, Cream ribbon trim, mini faux pearl strings and faux pearls in 3 sizes to decorate the dress.

 My 2nd card has been created by using Tonic Dies to cut and layer up a shaped card base. I used Natural White Pearlised and the Maroon card again to give this an Autumn / Winter theme. 

 

His and Her heart images have been stamped with  'starlite black' ink and then covered with double sided adhesive sheet and then with Clear Micro Glass Beads. The hearts were attached to the card front with 3D foam pads. 

 'Your Wedding Day' was cut with tattered lace sentiment dies. and carefully positioned onto the centre panel. I avoided adding any extra bling or ribbons to this card as I felt the layered heart panels and the glass micro beads were enough to carry the design.

Off-White Pearlised - a papermill offer

Hello all and Happy Thursday!! Please forgive any typos, I'm still recovering and not quite back to normal yet (whatever normal is :D) but before I went to hospital, I did manage to have a play with this weeks special offer from papermill direct.

And it's yet another treat this week, a beautiful off-white pearlised card in 300gsm.  It has such a pretty sheen and I really didn't want to do too much to it for my first card, I wanted to let the sparkly pearlised show through and came up with this Wedding card with a little hanging heart design.

 

 Wedding card with hanging heart, all card used is papermill off white pearlised offer card. Inside card aperture is a scalloped heart of patterned paper that lines up with the front cut out.

I kept the colours simple just white and silver and used scalloped heart dies and border punches to add extra interest.  The card was lovely to work with and embossed beautifully with the swirls embossing folder, cut fab with my dies through my Big Shot and also punched crisply with the Tonic border punch.

This pic shows the card laying flat so you can see the cut out heart lines up with the inner heart of patterned paper,  I get stressed out if things don't line up properly first time round :D

Tying The Knot!! with this Papermill Offer!!

Hello, wow doesn't a week go fast!!  It's Thursday already and that means the launch of another fab new offer from Papermill Direct, this week it is a White card 265gsm and  available in small boxes £5.00, midi boxes £13.50 and mega boxes £32.50, This is the link to the Special Offers.(materials used and challenges entered links at bottom of post).


So what did I decide to make with it?  Well I scored & folded the card to make a card base.  I cut another panel and used an embossing folder through my Big Shot to create a swirls pattern, the white card embosses really well.   For my theme the phrase 'Tying the Knot' was something I wanted to play with. I found the sentiment and cut it out with my Cricut Mini from the white card, and a shadow from 'Purple Grape' another of my favourite papermill cards, which I also used to 'mat' the white embossed panel.  Before attaching the embossed panel to the card base, I added a lovely purple satin ribbon and a smaller piece to tie through into a knot.

The sentiment of 'Tying the Knot' was assembled and raised on 3D foam pads before attaching to the front of the card, this gives height and lets the phrase stand out.  Four faux sparkly gems were added to each corner of the panel and a larger one was placed into the 'O' of 'Knot' as i thought it would echo the theme of a sparkly diamond in an Engagement Ring.

Hopefully by keeping the colour palette to 2 shades this makes a simple but elegant Wedding Card, or perhaps even an Engagement card?  

As expected the White Card is great to work with and behaved perfectly with both manual embossing and electronic cutting. I did make another card which I will show another day :)
