Cozy Winter Wishes Card - Trimcraft DT

Hello, I've recently been testing out some new alcohol markers from Trimcraft brand 'Nova' and this is my first card created with them. The Nova designer markers were perfect not just to colour my stamped images but also to create the 'stained glass' effect on this card design.

I stamped the Christmas Bear image using a stazon ink onto acetate, then coloured the back using Nova Designer pens, these alcohol pens were easy to use and blend and I loved the textured effect I was able to achieve on the acetate.

The finished design was trimmed down and I added adhesive pearls to frame it before mounting behind a circular aperture i cut into the front of a 6x6 square white card base.  I decorated the inside with a snowflake pattern paper from the Paper Addicts Cosy Christmas 12x12 paper pad.

I cut a matching card front from white card, die cutting a slightly larger circle into the front before stamping a present and mittens in black memento ink.  the nova markers were easy to use to colour the stamped images, vibrant and juicy pens, I used the small nib side for colouring, blending and adding texture effects.

Pom pom trim is one of my fav embellishments, so i adhered some behind the aperture to frame the centre before adding the stamped panel to the card front.  Some simple stamped sentiments in black ink to finish the design for Cozy Winter Wishes. Love a Creative Life! - Trimcraft DT

Hello, I'm back again with a +The Craft Blog by Trimcraft  catch up post.  Since creating this card I have now framed it in a natural wood shadow box frame for display.

The beautiful FE Wild Flower papers, Creative Life phrase, and flamingo die conspired with my imagination to create this one.  The beautiful paper made me imagine a lush landscape inhabited by Butterfly Flamingos (I'm calling them Fla-Wingos!) with lots of creative messages, ‘creative life = happy life’, ‘LOVE to create’ ‘own style’, the words can be interpreted in different ways.  I’ve used the ‘wink, wink’ ribbon to remind me to never take myself too seriously. My message is always to have fun creating in your own style.

Step by Step:
Cover front of Dovecraft 6x6 Kraft card base (fold across top) with purple pattern Wild Flower paper.  Add a panel of Wild Flower paper inside card to write greeting on.
Cut green canvas effect Wild Flower paper approx. 14cm using Dovecraft decorative edge scissors, mat onto slightly larger square of pink paper (Dovecraft Colours) using d/s tape. Doodle a faux stitch effect around edges using a white pen, when dry add to card front.

Place the ‘Creative Life’ sticker (Kiss & Make Up) to top left on card front. Die cut letters to ‘LOVE’ from text print paper (FE Sweet Nothings) using First Edition alphabet dies and glue to right of chipboard sticker. Add 3 small glitter dots and a heart shaped pearl to decorate.

Using the Dovecraft Flamingo die, cut 3 different colours from Dovecraft Glitter card, purple green & pink, cut 3 butterflies from lilac, white and pink.  Glue flamingos in a row across centre of card front, fold up butterfly wings, apply glue to body part only and glue to flamingos. Add a small gemstone to each butterfly.  Glue a colour matched sequin to each flamingo for the eye and top with a clear adhesive gem.

Take ‘wink,wink’ ribbon (Kiss & Make Up) and adhere across card front just under flamingos feet, allow ribbon to overhang card edges and fish tail ends.
Using black ink stamp letters on to green paper to spell out ‘To’ ‘Create’ ‘Own’ Style’, cut out words and doodle faux stitching around cut edges.  Glue words into place around flamingos.

Die cut a layered flower and leaves from purple Wild Flower paper and white glitter card, assemble flower with 3D foam square and then add to ribbon at right, shape leaves and glue into place around flower, add a glitter dot to the centre of flower.

To finish, add a ‘love’ chipboard sticker (Kiss & Make Up) to first flamingo as if holding in it’s foot. Add 3 enamel hearts under ‘Love’ word, and glue a ‘sea’ of green, purple and pink sequins along the bottom of card.

Pretty Flamingo Card - Trimcraft DT

Hello there! so what have I been up lately?  Well I've been working with lots of new products for the +Trimcraft Ltd  Design Team, like the funky new Dovecraft Kiss & Make up collection. I thought it would be fun to team it with one of the new Dovecraft mini cutting dies, a Flamingo to go with the pink theme.  Keeping the colour palette simple with black, white, pink and red for a modern look. 

Step By Step:

• Using d/s tape, adhere a 14.5cm square of white card from the FE textured card pack to front of 6x6 red card base from the Dovecraft ‘Let’s Picnic’ pack with fold across the top.
• Cut 12cm square of pink hair head pattern paper and mat onto a slightly larger square of black card to leave a small border all around.  Adhere to card front.

• Cut 3cm deep strip of ‘Hey’ paper and mat onto a strip of black card to leave a border along the top only.  Cut pink pattern paper and black card into fringing, layer up and adhere to ‘Hey’ strip, securing at the back with d/s tape.  Add lips pattern washi tape across top of strip.  Trim completed strip to approx. 14.5cm so it spans to edge of white card before adhering in place across lower section of card front.
• Die cut Flamingo from pink glitter card and glue to doily shape die cut from white textured card. Add to card front using 3D foam squares so it overlaps the ‘hey’ paper strip.

 

• Die cut 3 feathers, 2 from Kiss & Make up pattern paper and 1 from pink glitter card.  Position at right of doily, slipping bottom of feathers into the holes and securing the feathers using 3D foam squares.  Slip 2 heart topped stick pins amongst the feathers, pushing down and into the foam behind the doily to secure.

• Using black ink stamp letters to spell out ‘Pretty’ ‘Flamingo’ onto white textured card.  Cut out words and mat onto slightly larger black card to give a small border all around.  Use 3D foam to add words, at angles, to left of flamingo overlapping onto doily.
• To finish, add 3 adhesive hearts to bottom left on card, a small adhesive black gem to flamingo’s eye, and a panel of pattern paper to the inside of card.

Hello Spring Watercolour Card - Papermilldirect DT

Hello, today I am  sharing the first of two cards I have made teaming +Papermilldirect cardstock with a stamp set and Derwent watercolour pencils.  The stamp set I am using is free with the current issue (April 2017) of +Making Card    magazine and comprises of various plants, pots and sentiments, but you could of course use a different stamp if you prefer.  I’m really loving the PMD Lustre Print card at the moment, it die-cuts and embosses beautifully, no cracking or creasing, and those gorgeous colours and lustre are making it my ‘go-to’ card at the moment.

Step by Step:

1.       Stamp a plant and a pot using black Archival ink onto Papermilldirect White Hemp card.

2.      Start to add colour to the image using the Derwent Colour Pencils directly onto the card, along the edges and where shadows may fall, (you don’t need to colour all the space).  I’m using Derwent Pencils #61 Copper Beech & #59 Golden Brown for the plant pot.  Leaves are #45 Mineral Green & #47 Grass Green.  The flowers are #23 Imperial Purple & #20 Crimson Lake.  I have also used #67 Ivory Black sparingly along with a little green for outline and shadow.

3.    Take a brush and wet it with water, use it to blend the watercolour to complete the colouring of the image.  Add more colour if you need to by using the brush to transfer a little colour from the tip of the pencil.  Clean brush between colour families. Leave image to dry.

4.       From Papermilldirect Lustre Print Silver ‘Tea Rose’, die cut the largest shape in the nesting bloom die set.  Die cut a circle approx. 8.5cm dia. From PMD Lustre Print Silver ‘Spring Green’ card.

5.       Emboss the Shaped bloom piece using a ‘swirls’ style embossing folder.  If you folder is smaller, simple position the folder so it covers complete petal shapes and then run through again to emboss the missing part.

6.       Cut out the stamped image using a circle die approx. 7.5cm dia. And mat onto the Spring Green coloured circle using d/s tape and a little glue.

7.       Create a card base by cutting 2 of the largest Nesting Bloom die shapes from Papermilldirect Plain White card.  Score 1 of the shapes approx. 1.5cm from what will be the top of your card.  With shaped card bases be sure to test that the card will stand evenly before deciding on your score line position.  Here I have ensure that 2 petals will stand equally at the bottom for a sturdy base.

8.       Attach the 2 white shaped card pieces together by applying adhesive above the score line and then line up the other piece directly on top before pressing down to secure.  Add the embossed ‘tea rose’ shaped to the card front using d/s tape and glue.

9.       Add stamped panel to centre of card front using 3D foam to give height.

10.   Stamp the ‘hello’ sentiment using Black Archival ink onto Lustre Print Silver Spring Green Card and again onto White hemp card.  Cut the words out as a strip and fishtail the right side ends.

11.   Shape ‘hello’ strips in your fingers, arrange position and then adhere to top right of stamped panel using glue to slip the strips into place.

12.   To finish add pale lilac and pale purple mini adhesive gems.

I love to make shaped cards, even small cards such as this one give impact to showcase a little watercolour image. The water-colouring is very simple and easy to achieve good results using the Derwent watercolour pencils.  I will be sharing an even simpler watercolour colour technique next time using this stamp set, Angela x

LOVE Word Tile Card - Hobbybase Guest DT

Hello I'm back to share another Valentines or LOVE Card Step by Step with you. This card is suitable for all those 'Love' occasions.  For this design I am using the stamp whole and also cutting into it to create individual letter tiles.  Again 3D foam pads create a raised and tactile effect.

Step By Step:

I created this design for +Hobbybase Ltd. as a Guest on their Design Team, all products can be found online at http://www.hobbybase.co.uk (product links at end of post)

Score & fold white card or trim down a 6x6 white card blank to create a 12.5cm square card base with fold across the top. 

Cut a slightly smaller square of dark grey pattern ‘Made with Love’ paper and adhere to card front using double sided tape.  Cut a 10.5cm square of dark pink pattern paper and mat onto card front.

Cut a 3cm deep strip of dark grey pattern paper and adhere across centre of card front using d/s tape. trim ends flush with card.

Using black ink, stamp the LOVE letter tile stamp onto grey heart paper and cut the whole word out. Use 3D foam pads to adhere to strip towards Left side.

Using black ink stamp the Love letter tile stamp again, this time cut out each individual letter.  Adhere the letters randomly at angles, above and below the centre panel, using 3D foam pads

To finish, die cut hearts from different ‘Made with love’ papers using both of the Dovecraft heart dies.  Mount the smaller heart on top of the larger one, then glue across card strip at right of LOVE sentiment.
