Easter Card Makes with Papermilldirect

Waving hello and welcome to another Monday, it's Officially Spring, Yay!!  and the +papermilldirect Team are still working hard on Easter Projects.

I have a Tutorial for a Shaker Card over on the Papermill Inspire Blog today (Link Here), but first I would like to share this Easter Bunny card.  I had originally planned to cut the Bunny using my Cricut Explore but had a few issues with technology & internet and had to resort to Plan B, which involved using templates and cutting it by hand.  It took a little longer but was quite relaxing and fun to do.  

The Bunny Head is a PDF pattern from 'My Scrap Chick' it was printed off , cut out and used to create the templates for the Bunny Head. I layered and assembled using 3D foam pads to give height and definition.

I cut the grass randomly with scissors and attached across the front of the card, only sticking along the bottom edge so I could slip the Easter Eggs behind it and adjust positioning.  The eggs have been die cut using nesting easter egg shaped dies and then embossed with 3 different embossing folders. 

Distress inks were used in colours to match the Papermilldirect cards to ink around the cut edges and also across the raised embossing to bring out the designs, a subtle way to enhance embossing. 


A greeting of 'Happy Easter' has been stamped in black archival ink using a 'Clearly Besotted' Stamp set. Ric-Rac and die cut border trims have been used to decorate the eggs, you could go wild here but I kept it restrained :D 

Extra details have been added to the bunny head with a black fine liner pen and a white Pergamano pen, I think these really help bring the character to life.

More Luxurious Leather card from Papermilldirect

Hello and welcome to my weekly Blog Post with news of this week's special offer from +papermilldirect .

I haven't had chance to create with the Cream yet, but if you would like some inspiration I can share a couple of projects I made using the White and Buff colours, I'm sure these projects would work equally well in the cream colour too.

First up is the little handbag shaped card, I drew a template and hand cut this design,  here is the link for the write up and materials list (what-to-do-with-white-leather)

Next up is the Wallet Gift Card holder, I created 2 of these, one for my father and one for my brother, these are simple makes but the Leather embossed card looks so effective, Here is the link for the write up & materials list: (more-in-buff)

as well as giving a touch of elegance and luxury to regular card making.  I stamped and coloured onto the leather effect too, here is the link for this card too.(today-is-good-day)

I think the Cream would be ideal for wedding stationery too, especially with a coordinating ribbon and simple styling to show off the beauty of the grain.  I would love to hear what you plan to make or  have made with the Leather Effect card-stocks from Papermilldirect.

Making a simple Easter Basket with Papermilldirect card

Good morning, I've been trying to shake off a heavy cold for the last few days, immune system is a bit low, my B12 injection is due really soon and I always seem to catch a cold or some bug in the couple of weeks leading up to it.  Anyway, enough of that and let's get back to the crafting!!

This week the +papermilldirect  Design Team are working on their Easter projects and I decided to make a little Easter Basket which when filled with chocolate eggs, would be ideal to give as a gift or use as a table decoration.

I used my Cricut Explore to create a simple design, bringing together a few elements in the Design Space software.  (I have the DS link to share with you at the bottom of this post if you would like to create this project, the link will open up with all the elements correctly sized, you can of course edit and use other colours if your prefer).

The basket part was cut in just 2 segments plus 1 handle using papermilldirect plain white card, the score tool in the Explore makes folding the segments easy and you only need to glue two flaps to create the basket.  The handle is shaped so that it pushes through and has little 'lugs' so that it doesn't pull out. I cut 4 grass sections using the Apple Green Card and attahced one to each side of the basket.  A little bunny with a lilac bow was attached using 3D foam pads (I have included 2 bunnies on the DS link in case you want to pop one on the back too, but it's easy to 'copy & paste' if you want more).

The layered sentiment of 'Happy Easter' has been created using 3 colours of card, and then attached to a strip of heavyweight acetate, I used acetate to enable the greeting to be placed where desired when filling the basket with chocolate eggs.  You could easily add a personalised greeting in addition or instead.  Pale green tissue paper was gently crumpled and placed in the basket before I added some brightly foiled chocolate eggs.  You could of course add different treats if you prefer.

It's all about MUM - with Papermilldirect

March already!! and the +papermilldirect  Design Team are looking ahead to Mother's Day and creating lots of different designs and styles.  The Special Offer Card this week is the fab Ivory felt embossed which is just £15-60 for a Midi size box of A4.  It's also my turn to work with the Offer card and I was torn between creating a card with clean lines or getting a bit inky, the Ivory Felt Embossed is 300gsm and has such a great texture it lends itself well to lots of techniques hence my dilemma :D  In the end I just couldn't decide and created 2 cards instead.  These 2 cards are also featured on the +papermilldirect  Inspire Blog along with colour palette suggestions:

For my first card I got the inks out and used them through a stencil mask to create a bright Daisy themed card for 'Mum'.  I used pigment Inks from Oak House Studio which are rich and juicy and gave a vibrant result. I also used a manual diecutter (Big Shot) to cut some flowers. For the flower centres I used a mixture of pigment ink and then I got a little paintbrush out and added some extra colour using sprays inks in pumpkin pie and glorious gold, the latter gives a lovely golden glow.  The butterfly was cut using a Fiskars punch and then coloured with OHS Paris Pink and Glorious Gold spray ink.  The 3 daisys and the butterfly were attached using 3D foam to create depth and interest.  Using blue pigment ink I stamped the sentiment of 'MUM' using a clear stamp that I had masked off the top wording. Faux adhesive pearls in 2 sizes added the finishing touches.  This card is almost entirely created using the Ivory Felt Embossed card, except for a touch of bright orange card to mat the design.

For my second card I wanted to show how well the Ivory felt embossed card will cut in an electric die cutter.  It is a 300gsm card and yet it cuts beautifully in my Cricut Explore and I didn't even need to change my cut settings.  I used it to cut the shaped card blank and it even coped perfectly with the intricate lattice / trellis work on the card front.  

The sentiment was also cut on the Cricut Explore using a variety of papermilldirect card from the colours range.  The sentiment panel and the lattice were attached to the card front using 3D foam to give height and I added a few faux pink gems and pearls to finish.

I loved experimenting with this card and finding out what it can do, which appears to be everything I asked of it, and at an extra special price too, what more could a crafter ask for?

A Mother's Day Gift Box - with Papermilldirect

Hello, today I'd like to share this Mother’s Day Gift Box with you.  I’ve sized this box so that you can pop all sorts of goodies inside, and  if you want to make an extra special gift it is the perfect size for you to fill with 3” square handmade notecards.

As it is also my turn to Blog on the Papermilldirect Inspire Blog  this week I thought I would use this week's Special Offer card, which is a  lovely Cream card in 300gsm  - at just £19 for  an A4 Midi Box

I decided to make the Gift Box using a scoring board and scissors rather then rely on my Electric cutter.  Sometimes it's nice just to get back to basics once in a while.  I did however use a manual die cutter and dies and a border punch to create the decorative panels.  I do like to stamp and so combined a pretty feminine stamp with the cream card and coloured using promarkers.
