Waving hello and welcome to another +papermilldirect blog post. This week's Special offer is the super popular 'White Felt Embossed' card which is just £6 for a small box of approx. 80 sheets!! (Link here).
The Design Team are still working hard on Christmas projects and I have a new one to share with you too. (challenges, links, materials lists, etc at end of post).
This time I thought it would be nice to test out some new toys (spray inks from +oakhousestudio) and see what happens when used with Papermill's 'Plain White' card. This versatile card was put through it's paces to create this Christmas Bauble card.
First I embossed the background panel, then proceeded to cut and emboss the various elements to make the bauble design. The card base is also 'Plain White' card scored and folded, and then I gently swiped 'Pumpkin Pie' ink round the outer edge. More 'Pumpkin Pie', along with 'Tempting Teal', 'French Lavender' and 'Glorious Gold' was applied to the individual parts to layer the bauble. I used a mixture of swiping, spraying and painting with a paintbrush to bring out the design. I love the effect of the 'Glorious Gold' when sprayed, it gives a beautiful speckly sparkly effect (my apologies the pics here do not show up all the prettiness). I sprayed the background panel and also the die cut pieces with lots of gold ink to create shimmer.
The bauble design was layered up using 3D foam pads to give lots of depth and texture. I added a vintage gold coloured sheer ribbon to the top, tied in a bow, and faux pearls in different sizes to decorate.
My little crafty playtime ink testing turned into a completed project, and I do love how it turned out.
Materials
Used:
Plain White Card - Essentials Range - Papermill Direct
Glorious Gold, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Teal, & French Lavender - Ink in a bottle Spray Inks - Oakhouse Studio
Ornament Set #657974 (embossing folders & Dies set) - Sizzix
Ribbon and Faux pearls from my craft cupboards
Challenges Entered:
(Sadly I was too late to enter the Oakhouse Studio Challenge)
But I am entering the Nostalgic Christmas Challenge over at http://countryviewchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/decembers-festive-challenge.html
The theme is Nostalgic Christmas and not necessarily vintage, pop over and take a look at all the fab entries so far. I choose to make this card as the bauble design reminds me of christmasses past and some old glass ornaments that were my grandmother's, I still try and pop a couple on the tree each year but they are so fragile and break easily. The wording too conjures up a heartfelt sentiment.

Botanical Notes...with Trimcraft
I was recently given some brand new paper collections to play with, and well, to be honest I couldn't stop oohing and ahhing over this one called 'Botanical Notes' it is from the premium 'First Edition' range by +Trimcraft Ltd and the designs, colours, patterns and finishes really wowed me. So much so that I spent a few days just stroking the pages of the pads before I could bring myself to take scissors to them!! I'm sure if you're a paper-crafter then you will understand. I almost had an 'I am not worthy' moment before pulling myself together and getting stuck in. :D
So what did I make first? I was immediately drawn to a rather beautiful floral pearlescent paper that made me think of silk, and I spied a bright gold foiled paper too. I do like to use black as a contrast and the minute I placed some black alongside these papers it almost created itself. I think this card has a bit of an Oriental feel about it and if you'd like to find out more then please do pop over to the Trimcraft Gallery where you will find a materials list and step-by-step instructions. (Link Here).
There is such a variety of papers in 'Botanical Notes' you can create varied looks. The paper pads come in 3 sizes 12x12, 8x8, and 6x6 something to suit all your paper-crafting needs. For my 2nd make I decided on a little notebook with a matching pencil.
I do like a little 'play on words' from time to time and the music note paper sort of went with the theme of 'Notes' and the birds, hopefully bringing the design together. Again if you would like to see more pics, including the inside, the materials list and also a step by step 'how to' to make your own notepad, then do please pop over to the Gallery (Link Here)
I have another project to share made with this collection, which I will post later this week. If you fancy WINNING the 'Botanical Notes' and the 'Sail Away' collections then do pop over and enter the Monthly Competition (Link Here).
If you want to check out all the projects created by the Design Team, then do check out the Official +Trimcraft Ltd Gallery (Link Here)
Thank you for stopping by and if you have any questions at all or just want to say hello, then please do post a comment :)

Getting Merry... with Papermill
Hello again, and as promised here is my 2nd make with the Special Offer 'Warm White' card from +papermilldirect (£6-77 for
a small box or why not treat yourself to the Midi box at £20).
This time I'm getting all Merry with a little festive pyramid box that would be great to pop little treats or gifts in and hang on the tree or pop on the table for Christmas dinner guests. (Materials List, Links and a quick 'how to' are at the bottom of this post)
Using my Cricut Explore I used a design set called 'Fancy Boxes' and cut the Pyramid shaped box from Papermill's 'Warm White' card. This was the first time using the Cricut's scoring tool and it worked quite well on this 270gsm cardstock making the job of folding much easier.
The Centre panel has been cut from lovely 'Post Box Red' card and the brightness helps to set off the jaunty 'Merry' sentiment. For the holly shape I first coloured in promarkers and then topped it off with green and red glitter glues to add a touch of sparkle.
I found a red & green tartan ribbon in my ribbon drawer and threaded it through the holes at the top of the pyramid shape tying it in a loose bow, so it can be easily opened to get to the treats inside.
Materials Used:
Warm White - Special Offer Card - Papermill Direct
Post Box Red card - Colours range - Papermill Direct
Promarkers in Red and Green, Glitter Glues in Red and Green, Tartan Ribbon
In Design Space, search for the 'Fancy Boxes' Image set and locate the Merry pyramid box shape and insert image onto your screen mat.
You can resize the shape by using the resize tool at the bottom right corner of your image and pull it to desired size. (I often find it difficult to visualise the completed size of a box - so to make it easier for myself, I found (in Design Space) another image of a basic Square and inserted that onto the mat to use as a template to help me size the bottom of the pyramid box. I wanted the bottom to measure roughly between 3" to 3.5" square, so I sized the new square to those dimensions and then placed that over the pyramid box to guide me to the size to drag the pyramid box shape to (much simpler than I made it sound). When you have the right shape for your pyramid box then you can delete the extra square as it is not needed.
Then be sure to pop your scoring tool into your Explore so that it can cut and score at the same time. Once it's cut out, you can fold the box along the score lines. The extra panel (I cut in red card) is also in the Fancy Boxes design set and can be cut out or you could just cut a panel of card by hand to fit behind the 'merry sentiment'. Glue the red panel in place behind the front 'Merry'.
Colour the holly with green and red pro-markers, adding some red and green glitter glue if desired. Thread your ribbon through the holes in the top sections of the box and gently pull together to close it, you may wish to tie your bow very loosely so it can be opened easily to put treats inside and get them out again :)

I have 2 makes to share with you this week, both using this week's Special Offer 'Warm White' cardstock, and I will share one tomorrow too, but first up is a simple design based around a theme of mistletoe and kisses.
I used my Cricut Explore to design this card and created an oval aperture card from the 'Warm White' offer card. The silhouette of the couple embracing was cut
from Navy Blue card and positioned inside aperture, (I sat it on the oval that was cut from the card front).
I cut Mistletoe shapes using 'Apple Green' and 'Post Box Red' Papermill card and attached to the
front just above the aperture. Liquid Pearls provide the berries.
The sentiment 'Merry Kissmas' was also designed and written with the Cricut Explore using a Cricut pen in 'Metallic Copper'.
I think the Papermill 'Warm White' card worked really well for this project especially using Navy Blue rather than black for the couple. I could have embellished further but I really like the simple styling and think it works well with the theme.

The Magic of Winter...with Papermill
Something really pretty about snowflakes and sparkly fresh snow, even though i don't much care for the coldness of it all, it is still something really pretty and festive when it snows.
If you get the newseltters you will have seen the beautiful snowflake embossing that Sharon has done with This week's +papermilldirect offer it's something a little different, it's a fabulously blue shiny 270gsm card called, yes you guessed it 'Shiny Blue' and it's on offer for just £6-23 per samll box, grab it whilst you can as I doubt stocks will last.
This week I'm sharing a design I have made to stand on my own mantlepiece this Christmas, featuring an Ice Dancer dancing in the snow. (As always Materials, links, and Challenges entered are at the end of the post :) )
This one sort of evolved around my love of a scene in the movie Edward Scissorhands, where the girl is dancing in the snow flakes / ice. Whilst my figure is an ice dancer it just conjured up that feeling of joy as the crisp pretty sparkly snow falls.
I designed most of this one on my Cricut Explore. The base card is cut and layered using Papermill Teal and Sky Blue card. I added a piece of white hammered card which I had torn and added glitter jewels along the torn edge to create a snowy feel.
The ice dancer was cut from Buff, Baby Pink, and Plain White papermill card. I added some subtle detailing with a versamark pen and the blades of the ice skates have been coloured with a pale grey pro-marker. Mini faux pearls and a metal snowflake charm were added to her dress. I attached her with 3D foam pads to give depth to the design.
The sentiment was cut and layered from Teal, and Sky Blue card, I used Buff card to create the shadow base.
Some of the snowflakes were cut with my Cricut Explore but the majority were dies run through my Big Shot. I added various adhesive gems and pearls in pale blue and pink to the snowflakes. I love the colour combo of the pale pink and blues with the buff and teal.
Materials Used:
Plain White and White Hammered card - Essentials range - Papermill Direct
Teal, Sky Blue, Baby Pink, and Buff card - Colours range - Papermill Direct
Faux gems & pearls, metal snowflake charm, tiny faux pearl string
versamark pen, promarkers and glitter jewels

P...P...Penguins!! ... with Papermill
Hello, welcome to another week and news of a +papermilldirect special offer.
This week it is a 120gsm Snow White Pearlised paper at a bargain price of just £16-22 for an A4 small box (approx. 160 sheets that should keep you going for a while!!)
Let's talk Penguins!! Penguins are cute and seem to be everywhere at the moment, so I thought I'd theme some Christmas cards around this popular cute character.
It was my birthday recently, and one of my B'day pressies was the new Cricut Explore, although I was a bit naughty and tested it early (well I needed to know it worked okay ;) ) One of the features I was wanting to test out was the 'writing pens' and the 'cut & write' at same time, so these cards feature my first attempt at that.
I started out by cutting the Penguin with candy lollipop using the Cricut Explore and the ‘Winter Frolic’ image set. I used the white hammered card for the body of the penguin as I felt the texture would add interest and a hint of fur to the penguin's tummy. I was really surprised how well the cricut cut the teeny tiny cane / stick for the lollipop, I was using the papermill buff card for this and it cuts so smoothly and cleanly even with that tiny sliver.
The wording ‘Sweet Winter Wishes’ has been created using the ‘Cricut Alphabet’ font using the ‘write’ option and a ‘Midnight’ black cricut pen. The wording panel has been cut and written at the same time in the cricut (first time I’ve tried this) using papermill's ‘Plain White’ card, the writing was even and sat neatly on the papermill 'plain white' card surface.
A touch of detail Glitter has been added to the Santa Hat and some ‘Glitter Jewels’ by Cosmic Shimmer provide the snow for the penguin to stand on. The Penguin has been attached to the card front with 3D foam pads to give a little depth to the design. I made 2 cards with a ‘Post Box Red’ card base and 2 using the ‘Sky Blue’ card. Each card measures approx. 5.5” square. I think it's nice to use bright colours for card bases, you can add a white insert and it really makes the designs more eyecatching, Papermill Direct has a whole rainbow of coloured card to choose from.
Materials List:
Plain White Card - Essentials Range - Papermill Direct
White Hammered card - Essentials Range - Papermill Direct
Post Box Red, Sky Blue, Black, Daffodil Yellow and Buff card - Colours Range - Papermill Direct
'White Shimmer' Detail Sparkle - Imagination Crafts
Cosmic Shimmer 'Glitter Jewels' - Creative Expressions

Party!! with Papermill
Hello and welcome to this week's makes with +papermilldirect.
The theme for the Design Team this week is Parties!! Yay!! and if you're holding a party over the festive period or looking to New Year then you may be thinking of making your own invites.
Have you ever checked out the Special Offers section?, well worth taking a look as not only is a new special offer launched each week, but there are often some previous offers still available whilst stocks last. This week there is a yummy sounding Biscuit card (240gsm) at just £5-50 for 80 sheets.
So back to the party then!! and sharing my design for a New Year's Eve party invitation but it could be adapted for other occasions too.
I started off by creating a tent fold card base from 'Navy Blue' card to which I added a panel of 'Sky Blue' card across the centre. I used my little Cricut Mini to cut a layered clock design from Navy Blue, Grey, and rich cream hammered card. Adding the numbers '2015' die-cut manually from 'Post Box Red' card. (As the clock is basically layered circles you could also cut with a manual die cutter if preferred). I also cut the 'Party' sentiment in post box red and navy blue card, and layered slightly to give a slight shadow effect.
The layered champagne glasses were cut from smooth white card and the 'glass' part coloured with an ice grey promarker, the 'champagne' was coloured with a pastel yellow promarker and topped with Detail Sparkle glitter glue, I was hoping to give the impression of sparkling bubbly wine.
The simple shapes are easy to line up and if making a large quantity you could get away with not having so many layers to the clock and maybe stamping the '2015' and 'party' wording.
I like using the red card to add a pop of colour to the classic blues and greys.
So will you be having a Party this year? Are you making your own invites? If you have any questions or just want to say hello, then please do comment, and thank you so much for popping by today :)

Thinking ahead, with a spring in your step... with Papermill
Another week has come around and that means another fab offer over at +papermilldirect . This week the Design Team are casting off the dull weather and thinking ahead to Spring, and to tie in with that this week we have a lovely shade of 'Primrose Yellow' as the special offer card, 240gsm A4 in a small box for just £5-50. This shade works well with lots of other colours and is sure to brighten your makes. (materials lists and links at end of post).
My first design features layered Art Nouveau daffodils and I created a large shaped card as the base. Using papermill card in Primrose Yellow, Apple Green, Spring Green and plain white. The daffodil design has also had extra detail added with a versamark pen and a little 'detail sparkle' glitter glue.
I added a stamped sentiment of 'You Are Appreciated' and cut it with a banner die. The majority of the design was cut with my little Cricut Mini and you can see the card cuts really well and I only use the 'light card' setting. One of the reasons I love papermill card is that it is always a dream to cut, no nasty wayward fibres in their cardstock.
For my second design I chose to create a large tag, this could be used as a gift tag for a special gift or it could become an interactive feature of a greetings card. For this design I used the Primrose yellow and white hammered card. I cut the flower design with my Cricut Mini and used a versamark pen and then dusted over with a gold mica powder to add subtle shimmery detail to the petals. The background of my tag has been embossed through a Big Shot using 2 different embossing folders. I carefully positioned the card to emboss 'dots' on the lower portion so that it would show through in the centre of the flower, and I used a 'script' embossing folder for the top part. You can see that the Primrose Yellow embosses beautifully too.
I thought such a happy colour scheme should have a happy sentiment too, so I chose 'hello' and cut it from the primrose yellow, then I followed the letters with my versamark pen and dusted over it with the gold mica powder, it adds a nice golden glow to the words, exactly how a 'hello' should be, all happy and glowing :) The sentiment was added to a strip of white card which I embossed with the dots folder, but this time used the de-bossed side. I do like experimenting with the reverse of embossing folders, sometimes I prefer the de-bossed side and it's also fun to mix them up a bit.
When assembling the tag I put some 3D foam behind the petals of the flower, to emphasise the shape and give a little height and interest. A clear flower shaped button topped with a yellow sparkly faux gem made a nice centre for the flower and I found some pretty yellow satin ribbon and a sheer white ribbon in my crafty stash, to finish it off.
Thank you for popping by today, If you have any questions or just want to say hello, then please pop a comment below, I'd love to hear from you :)

I'm sharing some exciting news today!!
Hello, Today I can share some exciting news with you. I was recently asked by Trimcraft if I would like to join their Design Team. So did I say yes? of course I said Yes!! I absolutely adore working with their papers and have a particular love affair with their First Edition paper collections, so you can imagine my delight to be able to work 'officially' with their brand new and upcoming collections. Please excuse my Happy Dancing, I've had to do it in secret for a while and it's not been easy!! :D
I'm really looking forward to starting work with their new collections very soon. In the meantime, I will share a few of the designs that I have already made this year, The following were made recently with the Bella Rose collection, such beautiful patterns and not just florals.
If you would like to know more about these and perhaps a materials list, then just pop a comment below and I'll add it to the blog .I will also share some other designs next time, perhaps some Christmas designs and paper folding?
So It's been a bit of an odd couple of years for me, some lows and some highs, I won't bore you with the details but the lows involved redundancy and health issues. Anyway throughout all this, my love of paper crafting has grown even more, it has helped me through and whilst it may not cure all problems it is a jolly good distraction and perfect therapy. My crafting highs really are dreams come true, I am so proud to be both a member of the Papermill DT and now also the Trimcraft DT. Both having quality reliable products that I use every day and feel confident promoting and recommending. So look out for lots more makes and projects from me.
Thank you to everyone that pops by to take a peek, or leave a comment, I am grateful for your support of my little blog. Going forward I am trying to organise my blog a little better and I will add an area for Tutorials (look I made a start with a Title :D). As always I am happy to answer your questions, I love reading your comments, and if you have any ideas for what you would like to see here, then please don't be shy :)
Happy Crafting!!

Christmas Gift Box Ideas using Papermill card
Hello and welcome to my little Blog. The Theme for the +papermilldirect Design Team this week is Christmas Gift Ideas, so we have all been busy creating boxes and tags and other festive items from across the range of papermill card. There is also a special offer running on a 280gsm 'Smooth White Card' this week which is available in Midi and Mega box sizes starting at just £20 so it's the perfect time for stocking up. (or perhaps drop hints to get some in your Christmas stocking this year).
So what craftiness did I get up to this week? Well I thought I would use a theme of Poinsettias to create 2 different shaped gift boxes. First up I created this square box from papermill white hammered card, I love the hammered effect and think it gives a look of snow with it's lovely texture.
I die-cut a poinsettia from 'Post Box Red' card and applied 'cosmic copper' ink and versamark ink to enhance the embossing. Forest Green card provides a very rich green perfect for the leaves, and I also used it to punch a decorative strip layer for the box lid.
I found a lovely red & gold ribbon in my craft stash and coloured some faux pearls with a gold promarker to finish the box. I love the classic festive colours and these little boxes will be great for presenting gifts to family and friends this year.
Still keeping with the poinsettia theme I thought I'd try to make a triangle shaped cracker, I scored the design on a scoring board and then used a craft knife to remove the triangles to create the cracker shape. I again used the hammered card but this time in the Rich Cream colour.
I decided on a paler colour scheme for this poinsettia and die cut it from a mixture of Spring Green, White, and Cream Pearlised cards. Again using the Forest Green card to create my leaves. This time the embossed details where very subtly enhanced with versamark ink and I added 3 faux peals to the centre. The 'Seasons Greetings' sentiment was die-cut from the Spring Green card and I added some extra sparkle by applying Detail Sparkle in White Shimmer.
Again a search of my ribbon stash and I found a lovely cream and gold ribbon which I tied in large bows each side of the cracker. I enjoyed making this, my first time actually cutting a cracker shape and I managed to find a sharp craft knife which easily cut the card and not my fingers!! Which is always a bonus :D

Wedding ideas with papermill card
Hello, and welcome to my weekly papermill DT post. This week our theme is Wedding Stationery and to go with that papermill have a special offer on their lovely Ivory Felt card across small, midi & mega box sizes, starting at just £6-50 per box. The Ivory Felt card is a sumptuous 300gsm and perfect for lots of designs.
Now I must confess that Wedding Stationery is not something I have much experience of, but I thought it would be fun to make some 'Save The Date' cards and 'RSVP's using some of the other fabulous card stocks from +papermilldirect. I will first apologise for the photos, the weather was horrible this week and the light not good, so the pics do not do the cards or the beautiful card stock used justice.
First up is a Bird themed RSVP card that would be great to use as an invite. I have created the card base from papermill's Sky Blue card and have embossed the front flap only through my Big Shot using a swirls design embossing folder. The layered Bird has been cut from Papermill White Linen card, which I also used to die cut the letters for 'RSVP'. A little faux pearl for the eye to complete it. These little cards don't use much card or expensive materials and so would be perfect for those on a budget. Just add your computer printed details inside. Cut using a cricut mini they could be made in batches and the embossing could be left off for quicker makes.
My second design is a 'Save The Date' card with a heart theme in my favourite colour of course. I have also cut this with a cricut mini using papermill's White Hammered card to form the card base.
The heart motif is cut from my favourite papermill Purple Grape card. The 'Save the Date' phrase has been cut from white hammered card and lightly coloured with pan pastels, attached to a shadow base of papermill grey card. A purple ribbon and faux pearls to finish.
Just add an insert with your details inside to complete. I printed these off on my computer and then die-cut with a scalloped square die. Again if making in large quantities, you could always omit the pan pastel colouring and perhaps the grey card shadow layer to the sentiment.
So there are my 2 projects this week, if you pop by the other papermill DT ladies' blogs (links at bottom of post) you will find lots of other ideas for cards and Wedding Stationery.
Thank you for popping by and as always I am happy to help with any questions you may have, and I do love reading your comments too, so please don't be shy, say hi!! :-)
